DIGITA ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2011
More than 200 delegates from professional tax and accounting firms joined us this year at the Four Pillars Cotswolds Hotel for our 9th Digita Annual User Conference. With the new HMRC iXBRL legislation coming into effect on the eve of our event, it was the perfect opportunity to bring experts and practitioners together to openly discuss issues regarding the new filing format.
Opening the conference with his key note speech Jerry Rihll, founder and Managing Director of Digita at Thomson Reuters, spoke about how social groups, especially the Millennials, will influence accounting firms in the future and how the company is preparing for the next wave of computing with new apps, such as Digita Mobile, that enable business on the move.
Industry speakers and practicing professionals including, Francesca Lagerberg - Head of Tax for Grant Thornton, Anita Monteith - ICEAW Tax Faculty Manager, Julian Hatt – HMRC, Arthur West – Companies House, Simon Hurst – ICAEW IT Faculty Member, Nigel Harris – Burton Sweet and Lucy Cohen – Director of Mazuma, presented unique opportunities in the form of Open Forums for audiences to discuss and debate relevant issues facing the future of their practices. Questions were raised and brought to the stage not just by attending delegates but also by the wider web audience who were able to submit their questions via the digita.com website. These Q and A’s have been fed back live through various social media sites including Facebook and Twitter for everyone to share and learn from. You can view the results here.
Bringing many new faces to this year’s conference was the introduction of our free onsite, hands on training for the latest version of Digita Accounts Production and Digita Personal Tax. With the options of standard and advanced classroom based learning, these sessions were highly popular and proved to be a tremendous success giving our users extra added value for their practice.
Along with the ever popular Surgery session, where our customers are able to book a one-on-one session with Digita Product Specialists, the two days provided the well needed time to meet and greet with customers to discuss issues, stories and idea’s.
Jerry Rihll said “The Digita conference has evolved over the last nine years making it the most comprehensive event for accountancy firms, today. The delegates enjoyed over a hundred different sessions with head-line presentations from some of the best industry experts and Digita customers again, demonstrated their true generosity by raising a superb £800 for Breast Cancer during the Gala Dinner, which has since been matched by Thomson Reuters, making a total of £1600.
To put it simply, it was the best yet.“
