Tax credits
From April 2003, the government introduce new payable tax credits for families with children and working families with low incomes.
The child tax credit and working tax credit replace the following tax credits:
- children's tax credit
- working families tax credit
- disabled persons tax credit
- child elements of income support
- child elements of income-based jobseekers allowance.
For more information, refer to the child tax credit article, the working tax credit article, and the HM Revenue & Customs FAQ.

You can apply for tax credits online at the tax credits web site. If you prefer to post your application, a paper copy of the form is available from your local HM Revenue & Customs enquiry centre.
